Juicing fruits and vegetables is a great way to add some nutrients to your diet, all at once. It’s easy to make and you can always have it on the go. In the ever-changing world of food trends, there’s always something new and unusual. Recently, the trend of consuming okra (lady’s finger) water for its health benefits has come to life. However, this supposedly “healthy” drink got a fruity makeover when paired with none other than watermelon juice. Yes, you read that right! A video of Okra Watermelon Water recipe has been making rounds on the internet.

The video was shared by digital creator Shanique Simpson (@shaniquethekreativevegan) on her Instagram handle. The video begins with Simpson washing a large watermelon. Next, she takes a piece out of the watermelon to do a “taste test.” After extracting large chunks of watermelon flesh, the user extracts its juice. Meanwhile, take four okra and cut them into small pieces and add them to a glass. Here’s the twist – the user then adds freshly squeezed watermelon juice to the okra-filled glass.
Simon added that she left the watermelon okra juice for “12 to 24 hours.” This time allowed the okra to release its nutrients and weakness into the juice. Outcome? A beautifully colored watermelon juice with subtle okra. Simon also suggested that if watermelon okra juice is too “cool” for you, add some lemon juice to it.
